How the generators work
Each generator combines curated word lists and naming patterns that belong to its subject. An elf generator, for example, joins syllables and endings typical of elven names in fantasy writing, while the Roman generator follows the structure of Roman personal names. Because the results are random, you can generate as many as you like and keep the ones that fit.
The generators run on our own server. The names you generate are not saved — we keep anonymous counts of how often each tool is used, together with the standard server logs and analytics described in our Privacy Policy.
Using the names you generate
You are free to use generated names in your stories, games, channels and projects. Generated names are suggestions, not registered brands: before you use one for a business, brand or username, check that it is available and does not infringe someone else's trademark. Our Terms of Service have the details.

Who runs Generator Bar
Generator Bar is created and run by Maria Granowski in the United States. She is responsible for the site, its content and the tools. Corrections and questions are read by her directly; see the contact details below.
How this site is made
The generators are our own code and word lists, written for this site. The guides and the descriptive text on each tool page are drafted with the help of AI writing tools and then checked against how each tool actually behaves, using both automated comparisons with the code and manual review: the list sizes, the example results and the factual claims. Errors that we find or that readers report are corrected, and the pages are rechecked whenever a tool changes. The names the tools generate are random combinations and are not reviewed individually, so check any result before relying on it.
How the site is funded
Generator Bar is free to use and does not require an account. It is supported by advertising and uses analytics services; what they collect and how to control it is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Trademarks and affiliation
Names of games, films, books, platforms, brands, sports teams and other products mentioned on this site belong to their respective owners. Generator Bar is an independent site and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of them. Some tools are inspired by the naming style of well-known fictional worlds; they create their own names and are not official products of those worlds.
