The three patterns the tool uses

In the Classic style, each result joins an adjective-style word and a noun-style word with a random number from 100 to 9999, in one of three arrangements. Each list has 30 words, so you see names such as the ones below.

Classic results are always 10 to 18 characters, letters and digits only, with no underscores or spaces, so they fit within Roblox's length limit. Two options change the shape. No numbers gives the two words alone, such as FrostWolf, in 7 to 14 characters. With underscore joins the words with one underscore, such as Neon_Ranger, and sometimes adds a two-digit ending. The underscore is never first or last, which matches the platform's rule. The word lists lean on a familiar gamer vocabulary (Shadow, Turbo, Ninja, Legend, Slayer), so similar combinations are probably already in use. The tool does not check whether a name is taken, and each of the three patterns comes up about a third of the time, including the number-in-the-middle form. GamerCool6414 and PlayerFrost252 show that noun-first results sometimes read as awkward, so skim a batch rather than taking the first.

Username versus display name

A Roblox account has a unique username for sign-in and a separate display name shown above your avatar and in chat, which does not have to be unique. Put the personality in the display name and keep the username tidy. The platform's rules, at the time of writing, allow 3 to 20 characters of letters, numbers and at most one underscore that is not at the start or end. Names are filtered for profanity and impersonation, and rules change, so the sign-up form has the last word.

Keeping personal details out

A public username follows you across games, friend lists and groups. Leave out your real surname, birth year, school, town or phone number, which matters most for younger players and for a parent helping with sign-up. The digits the tool adds are random and unrelated to you, so keep them rather than swapping in a meaningful date. A four-digit number can coincidentally look like a year, which is harmless.

If your first choice is taken, change the number or replace one word instead of adding a long string of random letters. For a cleaner look, use the No numbers option, expecting plain names to be claimed more often. More ideas by theme are in the Roblox username ideas guide. For other platforms, try the gamertag generator, and the group name generator can name a group.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Roblox username and a display name?

The username is your unique login name, and no two accounts can share one. The display name is the label other players see in experiences and does not have to be unique. You can keep a tidy username and use a more playful display name.

How long can a Roblox username be?

Between 3 and 20 characters, using letters, numbers and at most one underscore. Classic results are 10 to 18 characters with no underscores, and the With underscore option adds exactly one, in the middle. Platform rules can change, so confirm on the sign-up page.

Is it safe to put my real name or birthday in a username?

It is better not to. Usernames are public and tied to everything you do on the platform, so real surnames, birth years, schools and locations only make you easier to identify. Use invented words and random digits, and keep personal details out of chat too.

Can I change my Roblox username later?

Roblox does allow username changes, but it has been a paid action, and friends may not recognize the new name. Choose carefully, and use the display name for anything you expect to change often.
